T- Day Buffetage

Posted by
Joyce (Montana, United States) on 25 November 2011 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

I can't believe how small town we are. First of all, This was only an hour ago as I write this after uploading.

Once again the nearby Resort dining room was so busy, Sherpa and I were lucky to find a spot: a couch opposite room 103 just off the lobby, where my sister stayed when she visited a few years ago. And the same place I sat eating dinner last year. A good social spot since many guests, locals and staff wander past, and now and then someone sat with us. One kind fellow came down to sniff out the buffet, and took that photo of us. That dark object next to Ron is an antique safe,...which makes it not a snapshot but a cultural record....

Ok, this is the same Show Shih Zhu that came through the lobby trailing 3 feet of silky hair, and stayed in the same room 103 last year while I sat there!!!! -- the year of the amazing blizzard that paralized everyone including me, housesitting then too...(I had to be dug out by maintenance.) I squealed "it's you again!" And the woman looked at me with wary eyes, then smiled so lovely. I napped a photo. Funny how people are without soul until they smile.

The buffet was simply wonderful. Exotic dishes and flaming deserts oh wow. Turkey of course.

And so it's all recorded in one fell swoop up there. Including me standing outside with my stash of stolen deserts for later. We were back home within an hour and a half. I am so holding the record for fast, funny, fabulous and FREE Thanksgiving dinner. Try and beat this!

Thank you for your visit and comments. I so enjoy hearing from you and seeing the world through your lens.

What is the name of this resort? I might just think of 'dropping in' next year for a free (?) meal. ... But ... then I wouldn't have a fridge full of delicious leftovers, would I. ;D
It looks like you had a great day!

@Judy aka L@dybug: It's Chico Hot Springs. Can google of course. I work there part time thus the freeby. Forgot to mention that. And forgot to mention that the thing I most look forward to is the flaming deserts.

Don from Spokane, United States

I can't beat that for your combination of good eats and fine social time to boot! The collection of shots tells a good story in addition to your comment. I too came home with extra desserts. The shot with the fire is spectacular too. Nice post.

@Don: Thanks Don. I forgot to add a photo of a couple wagons and horses approaching as we left. It really was a magical time. Grateful.

I'm not even going to skirt the perimeter of the possibility of trying to beat that! A very nice time was obviously had, as evidenced by your smart montage. Glad of it, Joyce!

Thanks, and another viewer used the word montage which I looked up, and which I think is the real word for a bunch of pictures squished together because too impatient to post one a day. Collage is a bunch of media stuck together to form image with materials like yarn, tissue, ...banana peels, sand....., hair, bubble wrap....

sounds like fun.

Calusarus from St Sorlin en Valloire, France

I like your creative way to show these shots

@Calusarus: Thanks! Often for me, just one picture doesn't tell the story, and I'm too impatient to stretch it out over the days.

Looks wonderful. I enjoyed the photos even more because I could relate to the place since you guy took us there for a visit. We just now (Sunday) got back from our Thanksgiving bash with family in Austin.

Is that little cute dog shih-tzu. In my family lived many, many years a go three shih-tzus. Somtimes I remember them and miss them very much.

An excellent collage of the day's activity. Before reading your text, I recognised you immediately (the hair and glasses) from your recent snowy self-portrait...you have a lovely smile! We don't celebrate Thanksgiving over here in Australia even 'tho we know about it, of course; I think we should. Perhaps Christmas is our Thanksgiving! :O)
