First Snow 2012 - 2

Posted by Joyce (Montana, United States) on 5 October 2012 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Temp dropped to 39, and here she comes. Snow I cannot see but only glimpses yet under the clouds, makes it all the more exciting. [Canada, did you send this storm front?] I counted only about 17 snowflakes here at my level, but I just love each and every one of them. So ends the Wildfire Summer of 2012. Sorry, but I had to include this one. The unveiling is tomorrow's post.

Thank you for your visit and comments. I so enjoy hearing from you and seeing the world through your lens.

That sky sure means business . . I can tell you have a wonderful affinity with the weather around you there and a feeling for her as part of All Things. Admire that.

@Ronnie 2¢: Thanks for your thoughtful looks and comments. It is not called Big Sky Country for nothin.' Come visit. We are famous for taking hostages. :D

Mhelene from Villiers-sur-Marne, France

Wow ..What a sky !! Already snow ? A superb poto !

@Mhelene: Merci! Snow is late this year, but so welcomed. We are giddy with happiness because it put out the fires and cleared the air. Today is 20 degrees and earth is frosty. Soon we will start to whine and complain of the cold. :-D

Hiro from Kyoto, Japan

Ah, really impressive image. Beginning of winter ?

Rick from Toronto, Canada

I love the vastness and heft of the sky in this frame : well done to convey it. Uh, not sure if Canadians sent that snow your way, but apparently the flakes were already flying in places like Winnipeg (no shock there!) as of yesterday.

@Rick: Ah yes, Heft! You are really a wordmaster. Canada is so big and spread across the top of us like a big hat that it simply must be the source of our storms, or at least a deliverer, --- as usual I get my fantasies and stick to them.

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

I love that strong stormy sky, such a beautiful sight

@Doug: Me too.

LauraS from Chico, United States

Fantastic shot, Joyce. I see the impending doom of the snowfall, it is very enticing, hypnotic.

5 Oct 2012 4:41pm

@LauraS: So loved, actually. I am addicted to Montana skys and need a support group.

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United States

I love seeing the blue sky above, the storm clouds, the mountains and then the trees, each of them in separate layers!

@Judy aka L@dybug: Thanks for the thoughtful view Judy.

Kat from Lorraine, France

J'adore ces teintes !

B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United States

This is a nice mood shot and makes we want to move inside by the fire.

6 Oct 2012 1:22pm

@B. Thomas: I think that is what we did. Today, however for sure. It's crisp and cold at 20 degrees. Woodfire indoor! season at last.
