Crab Apple Universe

Posted by Joyce (Montana, United States) on 19 November 2012 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

This should have been posted about a week ago before the cold air came, that ended this bright showoffy tree's color, but I drive past almost every day, and so finally got "out of my mind," and out of the car, and took pictures just under the wire. Very happy it came out clear up close and farther away.

Thank you for your visit and comments. I so enjoy hearing from you and seeing the world through your lens.

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Wonderful colour, I love your word showoffy explaining the beauty of this tree Joyce

@Doug: That's the word my dad used when I told him I wanted to be a model and he frowned and said, (he looked like John Wayne and talked a bit like him) "No daughter of mine is goin' to do that showoffy stuff." And so I didn't, and I am glad. He was right. :-D

Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United Kingdom

As your narrative suggests, there is a feeling of 'everything' in this - sometimes, a moment can be all-encompassing.

@Ronnie 2¢: I was so astounded to see what came up on my screen. All that I knew was that I had to pull over and shoot that almost funny bright tree so laden with hot pink "berries." One day there were deer sitting around the bottom. That was during their cycle of crab apple diet I guess. Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Ronnie, and sometimes "it's" all in one image isn't it? I love these surprises.

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United States

Wow ... that's a switch of seasons ... a shock! (just teasing)
Did you pick some to make crabapple jelly in your 'spare time'? ;D

19 Nov 2012 2:17pm

@Judy aka L@dybug: I did not. You teaser. I only just recently found out they were crab apples, (and still am skeptical about that)...I thought it was an extraordinary mutant berry tree/bush. You can't take the dumb city girl out of me.

Denise from granby, québec, Canada

Amazing shot! It looks like mini-balloons all over the tree.
