The Big Sky...

Posted by
Joyce (Montana, United States) on 22 May 2018 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

...over the Absarokees as seen from up on a hill looking across Paradise Valley, S. Central Montana. The Yellowstone river which is really high with runoff this year, runs north through that green, though not visible. Well actually it is: that dark green straight bank has a river rolling past below. That small squarish rock on the left is a salt lick for the deer.

Thank you for your visit and comments. I so enjoy hearing from you and seeing the world through your lens.

@Luca Bobbiesi: Thanks! I wondered if maybe too much sky, but I am skywatcher addict.

Rick from Toronto, Canada

Excellent composition to give a starring role to the firmament. As towering and dramatics as those peaks may be, the sky is always biggest.

@Rick: I remember from art hist. that when the painters began to show huge skys and much minimized landscape, it meant that there was a dawn of consciousness, because sky is symbolic of mind. Cool. LOVED art history.

Beautiful. I was up that way (Yellowstone) a few days ago, and I miss it already!
